During an October 9, 1977 Pan American World Airways flight from London to Chicago, Guy Richard, a white male flight purser, allegedly referred to Sandra R. Smith, a black flight attendant, in a racially derogatory manner and attempted to strike her. That allegation forms the gravamen of Smiths complaint against Pan Am for racial discrimination in employment in violation of 42 U.S.C. § 1981. The district court granted Pan Ams motion for summary judgment. We affirm.
